FOR THOSE INQUIRING MINDS WHO WANT TO KNOW WHEN WE USE CAMERAS AND TAKE REAL PHOTOS.
What we need to know before we take a camera out to take photographs:
Know and understand
- the relationship between lighting conditions and exposure times (beginning to understand bracketing);
- how to operate a manual camera by knowing the main parts to the camera and how they function;
- the 3 key concepts regarding exposure--
- aperture, f-stops and depth-of-field;
- shutter speeds are chosen and affect exposure times
- ISO
- TTL metering and seeking middle grays
How to
- load film and remove film safely from a camera;
- use the TTL meter with film inside the camera;
- focus on a subject and hold the camera steady
MONDAY, MAR. 20, A DAY TUESDAY, MAR. 21, B DAY Good morning/afternoon.
Activities:
Warm-Up: Pinhole Exposure recap-- How many exposures have you taken?
Do you have any successful exposures? What is the next step? Is there a pattern to your problem(s)? What is the key change you think you should make to improve your exposure success?
Include the art element as a focus.
Lesson:
Learning Target: We can operate the camera safely, to establish appropriate exposure settings, and take a successful photo.
- SSR for 15 minutes: Read the packet on "Using a Manual Camera".
- Work with your partner: Each of you trade off writing and researching information to respond to the handout statements in complete phrases or sentences. Be thorough in your answers/response.
